40RTY Plus: Busty Babes 1960s Selbee

 

In the early 1960s Selbee Publications in New York City became interested in the concepts of "specialty" magazines and created 40+ Forty-Plus. These very scarce, medium format publications featured the most popular American and British busty models of the era, each issue loaded cover to cover with photographs. Models appeared at the start of the layout dressed in bra, panties, garter belts and stockings and slowly stripped down to their natural, voluptuous selves. 

Featured models included Anita Ventura, Lisa Matthews, Margeret Middleton, Lorraine Burnett, Bonnie Logan, Francine Young, Tura Miller, Ann Austin, Rita Castro, Paula Page and Honey Bee. Note the busty caricature by Eric Stanton the covers. Results of another deep dive into the Vasta Archives.

BLACK GARTER Heels & Hose Magazine 1959

Sadly only three issues of Black Garter made it to the sales racks but they were all very special issues loaded with some of the more memorable models of the time, including Anita Ventura, Laura Vickers, Lorraine Burnett, Ann Austin, Jennifer Jordan, Madeline Castle, Irma The Body, Jackie Miller, Pat Wright and Karen (aka Rita) Castro. Excellent photography cover to cover, featuring busty babes in and out of garter belts, stockings, sexy lingerie and high heels. Published in New York City, circa 1959.

SELBEE Magazines: LEG SHOW SATANA HIGH HEELS PEPPER Garter Belts & Stockings

Selbee, located in New York, was among the first of the specialty publishers to move out of the confines of the digest size magazines and into the standard, full-size format. Out of that came one of the most recognized and collectible titles Leg Show. Along with its sister publications, including Satana, High Heels, Stocking Parade, Pepper and Leg Show stayed faithful to the ideas set forth in the digests. Use great models posed in and out of lingerie with a preference for fetishy outfits and especially corsets, garter belts, stockings and high heels. Art director for the first issues was Eric Stanton, legendary illustrator whose artwork, along with colleague Gene Bilbrew's, appears regularly in Selbee publications.

Quoting from Serge Jacques, one of the legendary French photographers of the female figure: "... a photo is not erotic if the model is not wearing a garter belt and stockings"! GLAMOUR GUIDE 1957 Busty Latina Anita Ventura

Rarely seen Glamour Guide Semi-Annual #1 published by Selbee in New York City, circa 1957 featuring Joann Bliss on the cover and the always marvelous, voluptuous Latina, Anita Ventura throughout. Ventura's long black hair, streaked white in the center, her gorgeous face and seductive figure made her a stand out of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Where is Anita, her daughters and grand daughters today?
