Vasta PARIS October '14 Book Launch + Paper Show

Three Kats In Glasses: Gilles, Mirka and me, Paris 2013

With the success of the New York Art Book Fair last weekend just beginning to recede in my rear view mirror, I'm reworking some materiel for my luggage and heading off to the Paper Show at Champerret and to "officially" launch Hide And Seek with Mirka Lugosi and Gilles Berquet in Paris. I will be there for a longer than usual stay to accommodate the show, visiting all the usual suspects, prior to and after the show, and to promote Hide And Seek. I'll arrive on the 17th and be there through the end of the month. It's all happening soon and very exiting!!

Hide And Seek and all the other Mirka and Gilles books I have for sale are now available for purchase in my eBay store or you can contact me directly at the email below. Or if you prefer, you can order the book in Europe from Les Editions Derriere la Salle de Bain.

Please join Mirka, Gilles and me to celebrate the Paris launch of Hide And Seek at the retail location for the publisher, Loco Editions, October 30th starting at 7pm. The bookshop is located at 6, rue Charles-François Dupuis, 75003 near the place de la Republique (metro: Temple or Republique). Otherwise, if you're in Paris email me. We can get together for drinks, coffee or meet at the paper show. Note that I will have a glass of milk and a dish on hand in Paris for a very special minette!

Details about a few select art events/shows around town that I hope to catch. Running to  Tattooists - Tattooed at the Musee du quai Branly which closes 10.18; the Cartier Foundation opening 10.25 Musing On A Glass Box; need to finally get to the Pompidou for the huge survey Modernites Plurielles 1905~1970 as well as Marcel Duchamp La Pienture, meme and Robert Delaunay opening 10.15; not to be missed Sade Attacking the Sun at the Musee d'Orsay opening 10.14 brings together "...artworks influenced by the Divine Marquis", this will no doubt reignite discussions surrounding De Sade and his legacy and Niki de St.Phalle at the Grand Palais showing her cool and colorful pop art.

And finally, sad news from Paris today (10.7) of the death of Didier Grandsart, a colleague and friend in the art book and photographs trade for many years, after a long illness. Many knew Didier first and foremost for his physical presence, his big sonorous voice, his quick wit and smile, the seemingly never ending cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth and his incredible knowledge across disciplines and decades of the arts, photography and the cinema. He will be missed!

Didier and his wife Annie at the Salon de Vieux Papier at the Halles Freyssinet, February 2011 where we were both exhibiting in the "Espace de Photographies".

Annie sent an email today about his death and to announce that his ashes will be dispersed at the Jardin du Souvenir at the Père Lachaise cemetery, Friday the 10th at 2pm.
